|Title||:||HPX-170 Test - Motorcycle|
|Description||:|| I decided to test out my new Panasonic HPX-170. Originally wanted to roll my brother's '68 Camaro but due to some mechanical issues we opted for my Dad's Yamaha Royal Star 1300 motorcycle. This was shot on Highway 62 and Lake Chickasha in Oklahoma. That's twitter.com/Cindy87 riding shotgun. It was her first time to ever ride a motorcycle. |
I was a bit ambitious, if you will, with this shoot. The follow vehicle is a Montana mini-van with the side doors open. I was not strapped in and we were cranking around 70 MPH at various times. At one point nearly half my body was outside of the van, hovering about 18 inches above the asphalt. I don't recommend, encourage or condone this. Hanging outside the vehicle with the camera mounted to a Glidecam 4000 (I was testing it out) and the wind hitting me made for some difficult and very shaky shots even with the Glidecam. I had to use SmoothCam on a few shots just to feather it out.
On top off the interesting shoot scenario, a very long string of heavy thunderstorms were encroaching on the day, thus the dramatic sky/lighting changes. Unfortunately I let this put me in a bit of a rush to get the shots, and stay dry. Due to this I failed to properly adjust the iris and shutter speed towards the end.
I'm working on a color corrected version just for kicks and grins.
